WGS Workshop Demands More Support to SMEs in the Middle East

Around 90 percent of all companies in the Middle East qualify as small and medium enterprises (SMEs), but attract only 7 percent of bank lending, underlining an urgent need for steps to be taken to facilitate more lending, highlighted a workshop.The high-level workshop on ‘SME Development and Financial Inclusion in the Arab world heard this morning’, was part of the World Government Summit (WGS) – organised by the UAE Ministry of Finance in collaboration with the International Monetary Fund, reported state news agency Wam.
