Washington D.C. [USA], Dec 24 (ANI): American actor Gabrielle Union opened up about how she bonded with her daughter Kaavia James Union Wade while she was in the surrogate’s womb.
Gabrielle and Dwyane Wade welcomed Kaavia together via surrogacy on November 7, this year. ‘The Bring It On’ star has been very vocal about her struggles with infertility and has been speaking more about it since Kaavia came into the world, reported E! Online.
On Sunday, Union joined Connie Simpson aka Nanny Connie on an Instagram Live and talked about her bond with her little one, the nanny and which celebrities knew about the surrogacy.
Connie Simpson has also helped celebrity couples like Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel and John Krasinski and Emily Blunt.
Union explained that she had a chance meeting with Connie. “What people didn’t know at that moment that I came across Nanny Connie is that we had just implanted our embryo into our surrogate. Nobody knew. We had not told anyone,” she said.
Union also revealed the steps that she and Wade took to bond with the baby while she was still in the surrogate’s womb.
She said she and the ‘Miami Heat’ star along with his three kids that she shares with Siohvaughn Funches, recorded themselves while speaking.
“The surrogate would play it with headphones on her belly so Kaavia could get used to our voices,” she said.
Union also explained that it wasn’t just her family’s voices that she heard. She also heard Astroworld and Beyonce.
“Kaav heard everything from Astroworld to Beyonce to Earth Wind and Fire to The Whispers,” Union said. The little munchkin apparently loves the Hamilton soundtrack, too.
The ‘Being Mary Jane’ star also disclosed that Kaavia was born a few weeks early. “We thought we had at least two more weeks,” she said.
Union also said that American actor Jessica Alba was the one who supported her throughout the surrogacy process. She said that she “confided in her early on.”
On December 10, Union posted an Instagram video about her tiny tot’s “birth journey” and it provided an insight into how Wade and Union met their “miracle baby.”
In the video, the couple gave glimpses into the months leading up to Kaavia’s birth and why they chose the surrogate route.
“Every family is unique. How each family is created and comes together is special. Kaavia James Union Wade’s journey into our arms was long and at times brutal. There were heartbreaks that nearly broke us and streams of tears that turned into raging rivers. And then came Kaavia James,” she captioned the video. (ANI)
