Re: Assad claims Israel aims to displace Christians throughout the Middle East

Only in Israel is the Christian community safe, safe from Muslims in Gaza and the West Bank attacking them and calling them Dhimmis. The Christian community continues to grow in Israel (182,00 strong which is 3.5 times the number of Christians living in Palestinian areas), while it is diminished in Gaza, the Palestinian portion of the West Bank and in Arab countries. Christians used to make up 10% of Arab society in the Palestinian territories. Today they make up less than one (1) percent of the Palestinian population.

Christians in Israel enjoy a high level of income and a long life. Many Latin Christians send their children to Hebrew speaking schools and one would be hard pressed to tell a Latin Christian student from a Hebrew speaking Jewish student. The Christians are integrated into Israel but not assimilated. They are free to worship their religion, their god, and in the custom which they want without fear of being attacked.

The Times of Israel published a poll on December 21, 2021 showing that 84% of Christians living in Israel are satisfied with their lives in Israel. You do not hear much about them because they are integrated into Israeli society and are busy inside their own community living their lives with their family and practicing their faith in their churches. Israeli Christians are almost universally married to other Christians.

Ninety-four (94%) of Christians in Israel say they have been baptized, a majority also say they have icons of saints or other holy figures in their homes (81%) and that they have been anointed with holy oil (83%) ā€“ a ritual performed annually or in case of illness. A majority (60%) say they fast during Lent. The Christian Cathedral in Nazareth is the largest Christian Church in the middle east.

Israeli Christians have limited family connections to Jews, Druze and other Muslims. They keep to themselves and by and large are satisfied with their lives. One is more likely to hear about evangelical Christians from the United States who love Israel and visit often.

Christian pilgrims and visitors come to Israel in droves because Christians are treated well in Israel and their religion is respected. They come to walk in the footsteps of Rabbi Jesus and his twelve apostles and see the holy Christian sites which Israel has preserved and develops. Unlike Turkey which converts Christian churches into Mosques, Israel preserves its churches and develops Christian sites for Christian prayer and visitation.
