Just hours after uploading a post to Instagram in which he asserted that he no longer wanted to live, actor and comedian Pete Davidson made a public appearance in his regular post on Saturday Night Live.

On the sketch comedy show, Davidson appeared in a pre-recorded skit surrounding the Oscars’ host controversy and also made a live appearance as he was tasked with introducing Miley Cyrus during the singer’s performance on Saturday night (Dec. 15th). Other than that, he did not make the typical appearances in live sketches on the series’ final episode of 2018.

Earlier in the day, Davidson stirred alarm after taking to Instagram and uploading a message that read, “I really don’t want to be on this Earth anymore. I’m doing my best to stay here for you but I actually don’t know how much longer I can last. All I’ve ever tried to do was help people. Just remember I told you so.” Soon, he would disable his entire Instagram account.

Davidson, who has been vocal about his journey in facing mental illness, was met a stream of friends and colleagues who were attempting to contact him, having to resort to Twitter to issue any type of message as his phone was reportedly turned off. In the aftermath of the post, the NYPD performed a wellness check on the SNL star, reporting that he was accounted for and on-site at the NBC studios at 30 Rockefeller.
