Linkin Park break record set by David Bowie

In the end, Linkin Park dominates the charts.

The group broke a Billboard record this week with 23 songs on the Hot Rock Songs chart following the death of lead singer Chester Bennington.

The previous record-holder was David Bowie, who had 21 songs on the January 30, 2016 chart, which followed his death in the same month.

The highest chart of Linkin Park’s songs for the week of August 12 was their 2003 hit “Numb,” which peaked at No. 2.

In addition to the band’s Hot Rock Songs chart dominance, the band also had several songs return to the Hot 100 chart: “Numb” (No. 34), “In the End” (No. 37) and “Heavy” (No. 45).

Linkin Park’s latest album, “One More Light,” landed at No. 1 on the Top Rock Albums chart and snagged No. 2 and No. 3 spots with their 2000 debut, “Hybrid Theory,” and 2003 follow-up “Meteora,” respectively.

Linkin Park is the first band to secure all three spots on the Top Rock Albums chart in a single week.

Bennington was found dead after he hanged himself between a bedroom and bathroom door in his Palos Verdes Estates home in Los Angeles July 20.
