Charlize Theron stuns bad guys with hits to the head while looking stunning in killer ’80s looks as a Cold War assassin in Atomic Blonde.

And it’s gonna leave a mark…on the weekend box office.

On this week’s episode of USA TODAY’s Straight Up Hollywood podcast, movie reporter Bryan Alexander (@BryAlexand) and entertainment reporter Carly Mallenbaum (@ThatGirlCarly) talk about their run-ins with Theron as she makes her spy breakthrough. All of these Theron encounters were non-violent, but entertaining.

The Academy Award winner for Monster turned true beast in Atomic Blonde, training for her fight scenes — often with her pal Keanu Reeves.

Trust us, it got a lot more intense than their gentle 2001 film Sweet November.

Theron even had to thank her dentist at the Los Angeles premiere. We’ll explain why.

Mallenbaum had a NSFW discussion with Theron’s stunt double Monique Ganderton at the premiere, as Ganderton explained how she would urge Theron to kick butt in scenes. She didn’t use the word butt, actually.

We managed (hopefully) to fully bleep out the naughty words.

Finally, Mallenbaum talks about her magical evening with John Mayer and 300 of his closest friends at a highly exclusive dive bar concert. How did she get in? Hint: She has friends in low places.

And she forced Mayer to take this picture. She’ll explain why.
