Chris Cornell’s 12-year-old daughter Toni joined OneRepublic on Good Morning America for a performance of Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah Friday.

Why?

The tribute, using the same song family friend Chester Bennington sang at her father’s May funeral, took the place of his band, Linkin Park, who’d been scheduled to play the morning show, ABC News reported.

“It’s an honor to perform this for my dad and Chester and to sing for them,” Toni Cornell said.

Bennington’s wife Talinda  tweeted her appreciation of the performance.

“Thank you @RyanTedder @OneRepublic 4 honoring my husband Chester & dear pal Chris tmrw,” she wrote. “Be still and you will feel them sing within you too.”

OneRepublic tweeted back Friday.

“Was truly an honor — and we did,” they wrote.

Cornell died by suicide at age 52 on May 18. Just a few months later, Bennington also committed suicide at age 41 on July 20, which would have been Cornell’s 53rd birthday.
