The 24FPS International Animation Awards of MAAC is a well-known name in the Media and Entertainment Industry that honours the brightest talents in the field of Animation, VFX & Live action filmmaking across the globe.
Awards were given out across categories such as Best VFX Short Film, Best 3D Animated Short Film, Digital Film Making and others. Apart from the main attraction, which is awards, the audience were enthralled by the presence of Marathi Superstar Swapnil Joshi who was awarded for his contribution to Cinema & Television, celebrated YouTuber Ms. Prajakta Koli (Mostlysane) who was awarded as “YouTube Sensation” (Digital Content), Mr. Vaibhav Kumaresh CEO, Vaibhav Studios who was awarded for his contribution to the Animation Industry and DNeg India who were awarded for their contribution to the VFX Industry. All of the above were honoured and awarded with the “Movers and Shakers” award.
Dignitaries from the media & entertainment industry graced the occasion, in the presence of over a thousand students from across India.
Around 600 International Entries from 70 countries were received with entries from USA, France, Spain, UK, Italy, Russia and many more contributing amongst these. More than 65 awards were handed out to the winners through the function from amongst 85 nominations by the industry experts in order to inspire and encourage them further.

Kottikollon, Founder and Chairman, KEF Holdings, UAE after inaugurating the MIT-KEF R&D Centre at Manipal Institute of Technology here on December 15, 2018. The Centre is the brainchild of Faizal an alumnus of MIT.
It was in 2012 that when he came to attend an alumni reunion he shared the idea of starting a research centre for pre-fabricated building material with Manipal Academy of Higher Education. That idea took birth today with the inauguration of the first phase.
The centre is a joint venture between MAHE and KEF Holdings, UAE, a multinational company that specializes in innovative offsite construction technology. The total investment for the Centre is worth Rs.16 crores with equal contributions from both partners. The R&D Centre has been established under the aegis of Faizal and Shabana Foundation.
Later, at the valedictory of the two-day 3rd Global Alumni Meet of Manipal Academy of Higher Education at KMC Greens, Faizal and his wife, Shabana were felicitated. The concept of ‘manufacturing buildings’ was brought to India by KEF in 2014. They established office in Bangalore and have since designed several buildings. All Indira Canteens in Karnataka have been designed and built by KEF.
“The idea is to design and then manufacture the components in a factory environment. We introduce robotics into this industry, and in the last three years, we have grown by million dollars. For me, it is a great opportunity to involve my team and your professors here and bring this concept to reality. If we can manufacture aircraft and cars, why not buildings,” Faizal reasoned. It takes years to make building, but this concept is much faster.
For example, he said, “This building is of 50,000 square feet and after designing and manufacturing, it can be built in about two months,” he said. The Centre aims at providing a cutting-edge research and development facility to upcoming Civil Engineering and Architecture students. It will be equipped with state-of-the-art prestressing lab along with material testing lab.

Over $1bn in EB-5 capital fully repaid by CanAm Enterprises

The successful project that propelled CanAm past the USD 1 billion plateau its 36th EB-5 partnership, which was repaid on time and in full on November 7.

The latest fully repaid investment was a USD 125 million loan through the CanAm Los Angeles Regional Center. The cash infusion was used to fund film and television productions in a targeted employment area located in Los Angeles County. A significant amount of California-based productions relocates to other states, or to Canada, where there are greater financial incentives, including film tax credits that California historically has not offered.
Operating as a financing incentive to keep these “runaway productions” in Los Angeles and to help create jobs in the United States, the EB-5 loan did indeed create and preserve important film production jobs in the region.
Originally formed to target investment projects in the motion picture and television industry, the Los Angeles Film Regional Center was approved by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) in 2008. In an effort to broaden the scope of eligible projects for the EB-5 program in the Los Angeles area, an amendment was approved by the USCIS in 2009 to expand the target industries to include transportation, agriculture, alternative energy, and technology.
Overseen by the USCIS, the Immigrant Investor Program, also known as the Regional Center Program or EB-5 Program, provides qualified foreign investors with the opportunity to earn conditional visas in return for investing USD 500,000 in development projects located in high-unemployment areas that traditional lenders have ignored. Each investment by an EB-5 applicant must create or retain at least 10 permanent full-time jobs for U.S. workers. It is a win-win job-creation program that receives bipartisan support.

Around 28% of the total population in Parsada Awas and 33% in Nayapara Parsada, two hamlets in Belha tehsil of Bilaspur district, work as wage labourers in the nearby industrial plants with inadequate access to drinking water and sanitation facilities. Some prime problems like water unavailability for daily usage leads to great trouble for women. Moreover, lack of toilets and bathing areas lead to open defecation and open bathing, resulting in water-borne diseases.
Fiinovation and CYDA are working rigorously on improving the water problems, sanitation factors and basic hygiene practices, thereby improving overall healthcare conditions. Regular tree plantation drives are also conducted for environmental benefits such as improving air quality and conserving water. The plantation drives engage the youngsters from the village and help in creating a sense of ownership within the community.
