After 19 years of service, Hua-Chuan Sim, MD, Acting Director of NLM’s Extramural Programs (EP) is retiring from federal service on Friday, April 30. On May 1, 2021, Dr. Richard C. Palmer will assume the role of Acting Director, NLM Extramural Programs.
The National Library of Medicine has awarded five-year cooperative agreements to seven institutions selected to serve as Regional Medical Libraries (RMLs) and four institutions selected as National Coordinating Offices in the Network of the National Library of Medicine (NNLM). The agreements begin May 1, 2021.
Teresa Przytycka, PhD, senior investigator in the Computational Biology Branch of the National Library of Medicine’s (NLM’s) National Center for Biotechnology Information, has been selected as a 2021 Fellow of the International Society for Computational Biology (ISCB).
NLM is seeking a detailee to work as a legislative analyst with the NLM Assistant Director for Policy Development. The NLM Assistant Director for Policy Development is responsible for leading NLM’s policy development and implementation activities. In this role, they advise the Director and Deputy Director of scientific, legislative, informatics, health IT, and public policy issues related to NLM’s mission; serve as a key advisor to NIH, DHHS, the Administration, and Congress on relevant policy issues; and direct the analysis, monitoring, and provision of technical assistance on relevant legislative matters.
The 2021 MeSH (Medical Subject Headings) vocabulary was evaluated for inclusion in the Classification index. Several additions and changes were made to the Index and Schedules based on this review. All main index headings are now linked to the 2021 vocabulary in the MeSH Browser. Additional minor updates were made to the Index and Schedules.
