15 Top Hotels With Tantalizing Nightclubs

While we could probably fill a library with all of the things the now-shuttered Revel hotel did incorrectly during its two-year existence, one thing you’ll never hear anyone snicker about at the failed Atlantic City resort is its nightclub, HQ. The place rocked every night with great music, beautiful people and some of the finest equipment. It’s just too bad that all the dazzling light shows and free-flowing Veuve Clicquot bottles couldn’t keep the place open.

Should you find yourself vacationing and not feel the need to call it a night at 11 p.m., you’re still in luck. From can’t-miss Vegas VIP sections to must-see dance floors in Dubai, there are a host of high-end hotels around the globe that are more than happy to get you a tab started in the midnight hour. So, DJ, crank up that Skrillex because a party isn’t a party until Forbes Travel Guide editors have put together a proper guest list of elegant properties with nightclubs.

Hakkasan, MGM Grand Hotel & Casino
There are countless hotels with after-hour attractions on the Strip, but we’re partial to Hakkasan Las Vegas for several reasons. First, we can grab an authentic Cantonese meal before hitting the dance floor at this restaurant/club hybrid. The second is the lineup of DJs who spin here — TiĂ«sto (October 28 to 30) and Steve Aoki (November 1) are just a sample of names on the schedule. But the other thing we appreciate about the club has nothing to do with loud percussions or glow sticks. The fact that Hakkasan neighbors the Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star Skylofts at MGM Grand makes it quite appealing, too. There’s just something to be said for retiring to a room with an immersion shower and a menu of 15 pillow options after an all-night session with Steve Aoki.

Addiction, The Modern Honolulu
As if the beachside location, Forbes Travel Guide Recommended Morimoto Waikiki restaurant from Iron Chef star Masaharu Morimoto and fetching modern dĂ©cor weren’t enough to make you hang out at this Four-Star hotel, its Addiction nightclub will clinch it. One of Oahu’s hottest clubs, Addiction pulses with hip-hop and house thanks to the likes of in-demand local DJ Anit. Dance under a bubbles-like sculpture made of 40,000 reclaimed light bulbs or survey the sexy scene of locals and tourists from a silver banquette and order bottle service.

FTGBlog_TantalizingNightclubs_Provocateur_FourSeasonsResortDubaiatJumeirahBeach_CreditFourSeasonsHotelsLimited

Provocateur, Photo Courtesy of Four Seasons Hotels Limited

Provocateur, Four Seasons Resort Dubai at Jumeirah Beach
Like the unassuming schoolteacher who finally cuts loose at faculty karaoke night, this Jumeirah Beach stunner has two sides. The one that most people know is a stately 237-room palace that hits all the right luxury travel notes with regards to dĂ©cor (55-inch flat-screen TVs, free-standing oval tubs) and dining (the interactive Suq restaurant). But when night falls, the property lets its hair down at Provocateur, a gorgeous spot that shimmers with so much silver that you’d think you were cruising on a spaceship — it helps in setting the out-of-this-world mood to have Funktion-One’s newest sound system, EVO 6, and a Ledscontrol-designed light display that illuminates the place with 15,000 pixels.

Aqua Lounge, Island Hotel Newport Beach
Newport Beach is a sedate Orange County pocket, but the 20- and 30-something locals head to this indoor-outdoor ultra-lounge for some rousing nightlife. The Four Star hotel brings in regional talent like L.A.’s DJ Tirade and DaCapo to play everything from feel-good party jams to hip-hop-tinged electro. Cocktails, made with fresh local fruit and herbs, are a must here. Rather than ponying up to the 360-degree bar, choose the reimagined bottle service — order DIY margaritas or Moscow mules for your table to concoct, or a ready-made punch bowl like the Sunset Punch (Mount Gay Eclipse Rum, Zacapa Rum, Marie Brizard Orange Curaçao, lime and orange juices, simple syrup, Angostura bitters and grated nutmeg).

Coast, Beau Rivage Resort & Casino
The list of headliners coming to Biloxi’s Forbes Travel Guide Recommended Beau Rivage Resort & Casino over the next few months is impressive — Patti LaBelle (November 6) and Daughtry (November 20) stand out on the fall calendar — but it doesn’t exactly scream, “Party over here!” That’s where Coast joins in on the fun. The spot where snazzy-dressed guests go after they’ve sang their last song at the concert (or lost their last dollar at the slot machine), Coast keeps spirits high into the wee hours with an energetic dance floor and a lively rotation of DJ appearances, thrice-weekly live music and themed nights.

Bang Bang, Pan Pacific Singapore
Revelers flock to Bang Bang, a 5,000-square-foot nightclub inside this Forbes Travel Guide Recommended hotel in the Marina Bay neighborhood. This place is all about fun — and lots of it. Yes, a serious set of international DJs perform here, but Bang Bang doesn’t take itself too seriously (to wit, there’s a full-on pajama party on the calendar this fall). Start the night out at the Singapore hotel’s Match Cocktail Lounge for a full dinner, or end your night there (it’s open until 4 a.m.) with bar snacks and one more cocktail.

Hyde, Bellagio
This Four-Star hotel’s Hyde gives you a vantage point that you won’t find anywhere else in Vegas: right behind the famed Fountains of Bellagio. Watch the jets blast from the floor-to-ceiling windows or get closer on the spacious terrace. Inside, an Italian-villa-inspired theme (chandeliers, books, marble tile) from design guru Philippe Starck lends a more elegant feel. The best spots in Hyde are the 40 VIP tables; reserve one so that you won’t get lost in the crowds during popular events like Lost Angels on Tuesdays, an industry night that pays homage to L.A.

Masquerade, Harrah’s New Orleans
NOLA is a city filled with neighborhood bars, but when locals and visitors want to really throw down, they can head to Masquerade inside this Forbes Travel Guide Recommended casino hotel. The 12,300-square-foot club rivals those in Vegas with go-go dancers, all-star DJs, a VIP lounge and a towering media display that turns out a cool light show. Retire in one of the junior suites for great views of the French Quarter and Mississippi River.

Great Room Social Lounge, The Resort at Pelican Hill
This Five-Star Orange County hotel found that its 40-and-older clientele wanted a place to sip cocktails and dance to good music, but without an obnoxious vibe and thumping bass. That’s when the Great Room Social Lounge was born. During the day, the Great Room serves a modern take on afternoon tea against an ocean backdrop, but at night it transforms into a sophisticated club where a resident DJ spins contemporary music Thursdays to Saturdays. If you aren’t up for late-night antics, swing by the Great Room’s weekday social hour (5 to 6 p.m.) to partake in wine tastings, fashion shows, art pop-ups and more.

Silo’s, Napa River Inn
No one visits Napa for its nonexistent nightclub scene, but Silo’s is the place to be for a dark, sexy and cocktail-fueled evening on the town. Located inside the Historic Napa Mill (a more than 125-year-old complex that also houses Napa River Inn), live music aficionados pair up and listen to artists croon while sipping on creative cocktails, craft brews and, of course, Napa Valley wines. There’s space for only 50 couples; it’s an intimate-feeling venue where you can still catch a buzz from listening to excellent music. Book a room at the Four-Star inn and you’ll get a complimentary hangover cure via the breakfast goodies provided by Sweetie Pies bakery.

Lava Nightclub, The Lodge at Turning Stone Resort Casino
Upstate New York’s sprawling Turning Stone Resort Casino has more than enough to keep you busy for a long weekend — tennis, myriad restaurants and bars, golf, a palatial spa — and nighttime enthusiasts won’t be disappointed, either, with its Exit 33 entertainment complex (options range from a country-music bar to a live jazz lounge). Lava Nightclub delivers everything a city club does, including great DJs, a huge dance floor, bottle service options and several bars to belly up to. There are lots of guest room options, too, but we’re betting one of The Lodge’s roomy, serene suites will do just fine.

Club 9, Ho Tram Resort Casino Vietnam
After spending your day lazing under the sun at this beachfront resort 2.5 hours southeast of Ho Chi Minh City, you’ll need something to wake you up. Hit up Club 9 for a jolt. The stylish nightclub puts internationally known DJs on the decks — Russia’s DJ Feel recently hypnotized the crowd with trance — while the Ho Tram Girls dance on light-shade-topped poles. Join the mass on the dance floor or sit back in a booth with cognac or whiskey and a cigar.

Edge Nightspot, Peppermill Reno
This massive casino resort has 15 bars and lounges to suit your moods, but when the need to dance all night strikes, you’ll want to hit Edge Nightspot. The 8,000-square-foot club and lounge keeps the party going well into the night with DJs, LED laser light shows and bursts of smoky liquid nitrogen. Spring for a Tuscany Scenic View Suite (there are 600 suites to choose from) at the Reno hotel and you’ll be able to take in views of the Sierra Nevada Mountains in the morning or the lit-up Reno skyline before dozing off to sleep.

LIV, Fontainebleau Miami Beach
Miami’s beautiful people flock to the hot club at this Forbes Travel Guide Recommended hotel. So do the big-name acts, including Lil Wayne, Fatboy Slim and TiĂ«sto. The 18,000-square-foot LIV was made with voyeurism in mind, so you’ll be able to spy the locals and visiting celebrities throughout the space. Party until the sun comes up to house, hip-hop and rock, preferably with table service in one of the 50 banquette areas or, even better, the six private skyboxes.

Edge, L’Auberge Casino & Hotel Baton Rouge
Baton Rouge may not immediately spring to mind when you’re looking for a place to party for the weekend, but you’ll find plenty to keep you busy. Thanks to L’Auberge’s 1,400-seat Event Center, the southern Louisiana city hosts big-name musical artists (Candlebox, Aaron Neville, Buddy Guy) for both inside and outside concerts. For a more intimate nighttime experience, head to Edge, the hotel’s sexy little music bar overlooking the Mighty Mississippi. The morning after, head to the hotel’s rooftop pool to soak up some rays.

Bright Lights, Sin City: 3 Ways To Do Dinner And A Show In Las Vegas

Las Vegas is often dubbed “the Entertainment Capital of the World,” so taking in a show is a part of the experience. Most engagements have a 7 p.m. start time and last around 90 minutes, making them perfect for early birds to grab dinner before or for night owls to eat afterward.

Here are three not-to-miss options that pair live music, dazzling stage productions and major star power with casual or gourmet dining.

The Venetian Resort Hotel Casino and The Palazzo Resort Hotel Casino
Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star sister properties The Venetian and The Palazzo have so many entertainment and dining options that you don’t ever have to leave the buildings. Three shows recently joined their shared roster, including “Puppet Up – Uncensored,” “Clint Holmes: Between the Lines” and “Baz – Star Crossed Love.”

In the Sands Showroom, “Puppet Up” from Henson Alternative is an outrageous improv variety show conceived by the adult side of the Jim Henson Company. Pair this only-in-Vegas trip with the lobster grilled cheese and the chowder fries from Lobster ME.

In the Palazzo Theater, there are two shows to check out. “Baz – Star Crossed Love,” a next-gen cabaret-style affair from filmmaker Baz Luhrmann, brings to the stage the ultimate movie–music mash-up. The equally high-energy Table 10 by Emeril Lagasse transports diners to the deep south with his Louisiana-style cooking. Check out the candied bacon, the creole-crusted Ahi tuna, and the chicken and Andouille gumbo.

If the mood for romance strikes, book tickets to “Clint Holmes: Between the Lines,” where the focus is on the links between the artist, the song and the inspiration behind it all. Beckoning sweet memories of its own, a meal at Morels French Steakhouse & Bistro will harken memories of that unbelievable bistro you visited in Versailles. To go with your champagne, sample the cheese and charcuterie selections, a surefire way to open up the senses for the enticing night ahead.

MARIAH CAREY PREVIEW MAY 4 2015 Photos By Denise Truscello

Caesars Palace
For more than a decade, The Colosseum at Caesars Palace has been the place to see A-list performers in Las Vegas. The iconic venue’s current headliners (Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, Rod Stewart, Elton John, and Reba, Brooks & Dunn) continue the tradition to this day.

The restaurant collection also hits all the right notes, working from the low key to the high end. The rich meatballs of Rao’s, the delicate artichoke and black truffle soup of Restaurant Guy Savoy, and the fresh Japanese and South American flavors of Nobu are a concert of global flavors under one roof.

Brooklyn Bowl
It seems as if Vegas gets a new live music venue every couple of months. They come in all shapes and sizes and offer a variety of bookings that hit genres from country to jazz. See the coolest concerts on the Strip at the 80,000-square-foot Brooklyn Bowl, while playing a rousing game of strikes and spares and eating fried chicken. How’s that for multitasking?

Located on The Linq Promenade, this hot spot features 32 lanes and food by the Bromberg Brothers’ Blue Ribbon Restaurants. Over the last few years, top musicians such as Jane’s Addiction, Jack White, Disclosure, Alabama Shakes and The Roots have all graced the stage. Acts such as Grouplove (October 5), Schoolboy Q (October 16) and Sevendust (October 24) will perform in the coming weeks.

There are three ways to enjoy the evening: dine first in the restaurant and then take in the action from the ample standing-room general admission area; secure a lane and watch the concert from the bowling alley during dinner; or go for box seating upstairs.

Most concertgoers choose Brooklyn Bowl because it places equal emphasis on both food and entertainment. Fried chicken platters are the specialty, and if you go for the 24-piece, expect the golden fried fowl piled high to draw attention. Other favorites include sandwiches and pizzas, shareable for two to three people. The knife-and-fork sloppy Joe and the San Gennaro french bread pizza are two other winners.

Miami Sound Machines: South Florida’s 5 Best Places For Live Music

FTGBlog-SouthFloridasBestPlacesForLiveMusic-KnightConcertHall-JustinNamon.jpg

From grand concert halls to underground clubs and dive bars, a multitude of music venues call Miami home. A whole heap of local jazz artists, bands, world-class symphonies, popular musicians and DJs make sure of that. Here’s where to catch quality tunes regardless of who is center stage.

Hoy Como Ayer
Hoy Como Ayer, which translates into “today as yesterday,” serves up a heavy dose of live Latin music — funk, pop, salsa and more. As the name suggests, you’ll see — and hear — a blend of past and present here. History literally lines the walls in the form of black-and-white portraits of musical heavy-hitters like Celia Cruz, Arturo Sandoval and Benny Moore.

The crowd is laid-back and diverse, so throw back a mojito and let the rhythm get you on your feet.

Should the mood strike, continue the tour of Little Havana at nearby Ball & Chain, a fixture on Calle Ocho that offers more live music, DJ sets and free salsa classes.

Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts
From opera and Broadway musicals to symphonies, pop concerts and world music, Adrienne Arsht Center attracts marquee acts. Located in downtown Miami, the Arsht Center is the Sunshine State’s largest performing arts venue. It also has the second largest stage in the United States, perfect for crowd-drawing acts like Chaka Khan (February 17) and David Sedaris (April 20).

There are three state-of-the-art theaters — the 2,400-seat Ziff Ballet Opera House, the 2,200-seat Knight Concert Hall, the open-air, 57,000-square-foot Thomson Plaza for the Arts and the intimate Carnival Studio Theater — so it’s no wonder that the facility hosts such a wide variety of shows. What’s more is every seat has a solid stage view (excellent for watching the Miami City Ballet’s every jetĂ© and pirouette) and impeccable sound (for when you want to hear each violin in the Miami Symphony Orchestra).

The Fillmore Miami Beach, Photo Credit: The Fillmore Miami Beach

The Fillmore Miami Beach
The landmark Fillmore Miami Beach plays an important role in TV history: It was a frequent home for top 1960s performers, with Jackie Gleason, Dick Clark and Ed Sullivan being just a few of the names on the illustrious roster.

Fast-forward to today, and the venue still impresses as a versatile mainstay. The Fillmore hosts a variety of artists and concert-goers. The pit in the front makes it perfect for the energy of a Run the Jewels show (January 25) or for those who want to get up close for Sting (February 25). The standing area in the middle and seated area in the back offer plenty of options for those who’d rather have a bit of distance from the action.

The Regent Cocktail Club at The Gale Hotel
The Regent Cocktail Club has an unquestioned speakeasy vibe: shadowy, candlelit ambience and the tinkle of the house piano in a cozy, intimate space. That’s one of the selling points of this captivating hideaway at The Gale House in South Beach.

Another boon: A curated menu of ever-changing, handcrafted cocktails. Try one of the specialties or relax with a classic old-fashioned while taking in the low-key sounds of soulful live jazz.

A sister-in-spirit alternative is the Lobby Salon at Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star The Betsy — South Beach, another understated venue for a great evening of live music (mostly jazz) and more amazing libations.

LIV at Fontainebleau Miami Beach
We’ve all done our time in energetic dive bars and slinky cocktail lounges. But sometimes, nothing will do but over-the-top opulence. That’s where LIV at Forbes Travel Guide Recommended Fontainebleau Miami Beach comes in.

Whether you want to boogie to the up-tempo DJ sets (Brazilian DJ Alok, January 25) or lounge by the bar, the nightclub’s 18,000 square feet of space provides plenty of room to do both. LIV is ĂŒber exclusive any night, but for those who need a bit extra, lavish skyboxes and VIP areas are available, too. But the dance floor, the great equalizer, is where you’ll want to spend the bulk of your time.

The Best Nightlife In Birmingham

BirminghamSkyline-CreditSeanPavonePhoto.jpg

Birmingham Skyline at Night, Photo Credit: SeanPavonePhoto/iStock

Birmingham’s nightlife tends to spread out among various areas of town where several bars and restaurants congregate within walking distance. Here are a few places in this Alabama town that locals like to visit.

Lakeview District

Tin Roof, Nana Funks and Oasis Bar are three different bars with three different vibes. Young professionals flock to Tin Roof after work to socialize and stay late, but the real night owls hang out even later (until 4 a.m.) at Nana Funks. The favorite time for Oasis fans to check in is when Rollin’ in the Hay, a local bluegrass band, is playing.

Downtown Area

The Roof at the historic Redmont Hotel is one of Birmingham’s top rooftop bars. It offers indoor and outdoor seating that allows downtown professionals and hotel guests to view the city’s skyline while enjoying a live band or DJ.

Rogue Tavern has tasty bar food, like burgers, fried pickles, housemade kettle chips, along with music and beer. The Nick, a local dive sometimes referred to as Birmingham’s “dirty little secret,” has featured local and mainstream acts for more than 20 years and claims to have the coldest beer in town.

Five Points South

Five Points South is Birmingham’s downtown entertainment district, and there are a variety of bars and restaurants located around the circle and up to Cobb Lane.

The J. Clyde offers an exceptional variety of craft beers, fresh ales and lagers. Zydeco is the place for live music — both local and national acts have been known to appear.

Or if you’re not into music, try the martinis on a Tuesday night with standing room only in the bar at Highlands Bar and Grill.

The Garage CafĂ© is a short distance away, with a laid-back, cool atmosphere in an outdoor courtyard surrounded by an eclectic collection of artifacts — but you may have to ask a local to help you find it.

Around Birmingham

The Bottletree Cafe is a hip spot in the Forest Park area that regularly features live entertainment.

Drop by Avo & Dram for happy hour in Mountain Brook Village. At Avo, try a mint julep from the outdoor balcony. Or at Dram, spill out onto the patio in nice weather with the young, single, after-work crowd.

What Is The Dress Code At Surrender at Encore at Wynn Las Vegas?

234946.jpg

Surrender Nightclub, Photo Credit: Encore at Wynn Las Vegas

At Surrender at Encore at Wynn Las Vegas, give yourself up to a nightclub scene that’s an upscale environment with international DJs and a stylish clientele. With that in mind, don’t find yourself left out on the dance floor or behind the velvet rope — the dress code at Surrender is strictly enforced. You won’t get past with baggy clothing, sandals, hats or shorts.

With a sexy dress and heels, ladies will never have a problem getting in to Surrender at the Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star Encore. Just make sure you’ve broken in those Jimmy Choos before you arrive for a long night of dancing. Experienced clubbers carry a slim pair of flip-flops in a clutch, or leave them in the car, for when they need relief.

You’ll also see the largest gathering of micro-skirts and five-inch stilettos at the Las Vegas club  — be the one who gets around (and isn’t seen dipping her sore feet in the shallow end of the pool) with the versatile wedge for extra balance. As for your clothes, you’re vacationing on the flashy Strip, so this is the place to go ahead and don that hot designer dress that’s been hanging in your closet, waiting for the right excuse to wear it.

For the men, untucked collared shirts are a standard, so change it up with a different patterned shirt, a nice sports coat or a skinny tie. Nice jeans always work, as long as they look stylish and aren’t too loose. In terms of shoes, you’re always safe with leather.

The most common mistake men make: getting too casual. You don’t want to be turned away at the door. Upscale clubs like Surrender don’t bend the rules, and you’d rather be walking in with friends and dancing with the ladies than out waiting by the bar.
