J. Cole On Anderson .Paak "Oxnard" Collab: It Was "Signs & Confirmations"

1542396511_c2fec6215eae1072f3615795c0263e2b.jpg

Anderson .Paak’s anticipated Oxnard album is finally here and we’re confident that lots of people are still replaying, sorting through which of the 14 tracks are their favourite. With strong features like Pusha T, J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, BJ The Chicago Kid and more the tape is a top contender for fire collabs and for some, agreeing to work with Anderson on the album was something that was meant to be.

Cole chopped it up on .Paak’s House Radio and explained the little signs that made him so sure he was doing the right thing by working Anderson for their track “Trippy.”

“I don’t know if you remember this, but this is the other crazy thing that happened when it comes to this song,” Cole said, via Complex. “I just know there’s signs, when you’re on your path and you’re on your journey and you’re basically in tune, what I call being ‘in tune.'” He added: “I feel like you get signs and confirmations. I feel like God tossed you a sign and basically winked at you, and let you know that ‘Yo, whatever you’re doing right now, don’t trip, you’re in the right spot. Everything is going cool.'”

Cole told Anderson he was working on his verse at his friend’s in-home studio before they linked up to work on it together. Once they were together laying down the final version, Cole noticed the title of the album and was shocked because it was the name of the street his friend’s studio was on.

“I got the chills, because I was like, ‘Bro, you not even gonna fucking believe this,'” Cole recalled. “‘Where I just came from writing this verse, my homeboy’s house was on fucking Oxnard Street. That’s the street he lives on.'”

Moneybagg Yo and Kevin Gates have developed a strong bond, not only on wax but in their personal relationship with one another. The two teased a joint project earlier this summer and it looks like we’re not far from getting it. Today, the two Southern rappers connect on their new track, “Federal Pressure.”

Kevin Gates and Moneybagg Yo speak to the streets on their new track, “Federal Pressure.” The track was produced by Javar Rockamore who’s worked with Moneybagg Yo in the past, most recently on Reset. While neither of them confirmed whether the single is off of the project, Moneybagg recently revealed that the joint album is still on the way.

“We locked in, we Facetime every day, IG Live every other day. Like, it’s love,” Moneybagg told us about his relationship with Kevin Gates. “And we got something comin’. Project and a tour, like soon. Real soon.”

Hopefully, it’s something we could look forward to at the top of 2019. The two rappers have been quite busy over the past few months. Gates released his first official post-prison album, Luca Brasi 3 while Moneybagg Yo just dropped his debut album Reset which featured another collab with Gates titled, “Fall Down” alongside Rvssian.

Quotable Lyrics
I put your hood on CNN, but lets keep it out of the media
I’m catchin’ the shit that you n***as did, but I don’t really be reading it
I got your lil’ bitch on the camera, but lets keep it out of the media
All of my jewelry be dancin’, hard to be movin’ strategically

Jorja Smith Soulfully Performs "Don't Watch Me Cry" On "Late Show"

1542389266_45bacb78a9ceb21357b07c5477f05799.jpg

Ever since Jorja Smith’s debut album Lost & Found dropped in June, the U.K. singer has constantly been on the move dropping off videos for her tape, walking Chanel runways, collaborating with Nike and traveling to new cities singing her sweet-sweet tunes for fans everywhere. The 21-year-old singer is still an unsigned artist and loving the solo path she leads.

“I don’t know any different,” she told GQ, adding that “it’s been going very well.” As for taking a deal from a prestigious label, she detailed how she wouldn’t right now. “I like having as much control as I can. It’s my life, so I need to be doing what I want and making what I love without someone else dictating to me.”

For one of Jorja’s latest performances, she paid a visit to The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to sing the last song on her debut album, “Don’t Watch Me Cry.” She was accompanied by a single pianist and her vocals were stellar, as always. Jorja’s currently on tour so if you wanna check her out live in a city near you, cop tickets here.

Mariah Carey & Gunna Redefine Thug Luv On "Stay Long Love You"

1542385777_54ad98a515b9305ac63901cba147bc6f.jpg

The late-nineties, or perhaps the early millennium is evident within the opening moments of “Stay Long.” Mariah Carey has long integrated herself into the hip-hop realm, collaborating with Jay-Z and ODB among others, even “beefing” with Eminem. Now, Mimi has come through with her new Caution album, linking up with Gunna for a highlight contribution. Evocative of such romantic bangers like “I’m Real,” Mariah and Gunna reflect on their lust-driven chemistry, exchanging fantasies worthy of the “erotica” section.

Gunna, ever the romantic, makes his intention abundantly clear. “I wake up to you in the morning and eat that pussy up for lunch,” he sings, an equal opportunity lover. Mariah keeps the mischevious tone alive, matching Gunna’s open-door policy with an explorer’s curiosity. It’s been a minute since we’ve heard a “thug luv” banger this refined, and Mariah and Gunna prove that some formulas are timeless in nature.

Quotable Lyrics

I got your back, I wouldn’t front
I came that night, you know I want it
I wake up to you in the morning
And eat that pussy up for lunch
And I take care you like a son

Ariana Grande Has Cut Off Her Signature Hair

1542382123_56d3a34c2945ddcd4e9062b6f5eb77e7.jpg

Stop the presses everybody, there’s a shocking new development in Ariana Grande’s hair. The singer’s world-famous long hair, which hangs down her back in an impossibly straight sheet, is now mostly gone. The singer took to Instagram to publicize the mini-makover:

Although not groundbreaking in any sense of the word, there’s one thing about it that we can say for sure: it’s different than her old hair.

This new cut has got Grande’s fans worrying about two things. First, how we she wear her trademark high pony when she’s only got a bob? She’s so vocal about loving her up-do that it might seem confusing that she’d want to get rid of it:

The second thing is the classic situation that Grande has found herself in. You go through a breakup (that is very public) and you need to show your ex and the world that your moving on. The easiest way to do this (and the classic choice) is to cut your hair. Grande also opted to make a chart-topping single about it.

1542379269_b64d7c4911ca3606baa906c50b511013.jpg

This year has been phenomenal for the development of several artists in particular. One of the stars of 2018 has been Cardi B and there’s no denying that. She has a decent amount of haters but she’s been at the top of her game, coming through with a few radio anthems. Arguably nobody has had a bigger year than her. Cardi went from a niche artist to everybody having an opinion about her. The City Girls are still just starting out, making a name for themselves as part of Quality Control’s machine. They’re the latest act to get the green light from Coach K and Pee and they’re fixing to make it to the top. Girl Code is their next step.

The duo made up of Yung Miami and JT has been grinding for the better part of this year and they’ve received love from all corners of the world. Cardi B has been a massive supporter of their movement and she’s cementing her status as a City Girls stan, hopping on the remix to “Twerk.” The official track was released a few days ago but Bardi decided to spit a verse on it after bumping the song on social media. She’s hopped on the bandwagon and many are bound to follow.

What do you think of the new version?

Quotable Lyrics:

This sound like Cardi took the stage
This sound like Cardi with the braids
Jermaine Dupri baby money ain’t a thang
This p*ssy wild, they should throw it in a cage
