Danielle Bregoli gained national attention as the “Cash Me Ousside” girl with a mean temper and disrespectful attitude on a segment of Dr. Phil’s show. But now the young teen is trying to take her overnight stardom to the next level as Bad Bhabie, the rapper. The star stunned many fans and critics when it was announced that she had landed a record deal with Atlantic Records, but if you ask Joe Budden, it shouldn’t be all that surprising. In fact, Budden explained how Bad Bhabie skyrocketed to musical fame is the exact same way Kodak Black did it.
In the latest episode of Everyday Struggle, which aired on Sept. 18, Budden commented on Atlantic’s newest signee. Around the 10-minute mark, the co-host suggests that it wasn’t Bad Bhabie or Kodak’s rapping skills that got them to where they are now. “Why is everybody angry that this girl is signed to Atlantic? I’m not defending this signing. This signing is trash. But she did the same thing as Kodak Black,” he said.
When asked what he meant by that, Budden went into more detail, revealing how a record company really operates and what they might be looking for in its artists. “Rapping is one percent of a record deal now. Are we talking about Kodak Black and f**king Bad Bhabie’s rapping abilities? No,” he continued. “We talking about marketability when it comes to the record business. This young lady is the exact same as Kodak Black and all the rest of the little f**kies.”
While DJ Akademiks tried to stick up for Kodak’s skill, the truth is, Budden does have a point. Bregoli’s debut single “These Heaux” had no real bars or rap potential but it charted at No. 77 on the Billboard Hot 100. Additionally, her music video has garnered more than 2 million views to date. Kodak Black has similarly dominated the charts. So while they won’t necessarily be the next Jay-Z or Lil’ Kim, they are obviously flashing dollar signs when record labels look at them.
