Study Reveals Huge Security, Privacy Risks of Pre-Installed Android Apps

shutterstock_android_mar26.jpg

It was only a month ago that pre-installed malware was discovered on Android-based Alcatel smartphones, and other such security flaws are no stranger to apps found on Google’s own Play Store.

But a recent study analyzing pre-installed Android software has found that many vendors that provide their own version of the open-source operating system abuse the platform in order to release products with integrated data collecting services.

By analyzing over 82,000 pre-installed apps, researchers have found a prevalence of third-party data collection. (Shutterstock)

Moody’s Investors Service has today (March 26) affirmed the long-term issuer rating of the Government of the United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) at Aa2.The outlook remains stable.

The rating affirmation is supported by the following key rating factors:

1. Moody’s assumption of unconditional support from Abu Dhabi (Aa2 stable) to the federal government.

The affirmation of the Aa2 rating incorporates Moody's view that the government of Abu Dhabi, the wealthiest of the seven Emirates that comprise the UAE, stands fully behind the federal government of the UAE. (Shutterstock)
