Californians miss Obama. A stretch of their 134 Freeway near Pasadena was renamed the “President Barack H. Obama Highway” in the former President’s honour. Not to be outdone, the city of LA also renamed their Rodeo Road in honour of Barack, their mayor Tweeting the announcement: “It’s official: our City Council has voted to rename Rodeo Road to Obama Boulevard! We’re thrilled that Angelenos and visitors will forever be reminded of the legacy of President Barack Obama when traveling across L.A.” The signs for the highway were just installed:

These tributes are not just the product of a left-leaning state looking back and wishing they had one of their own in the White House, Obama was basically the patron saint of Californian roads and transportation. In 2014’s federal budget, he set aside “more than $1 billion for California transportation and construction projects, including $330 million that Los Angeles officials called crucial to extending the Purple Line from the Mid-City area to Century City,” according to the LA Times. His government also spent “more than $800 million on transit throughout the state — including $165 million to expand the Bay Area Rapid Transit system to San Jose and $150 million toward a light-rail project in San Diego.” Thanks, Obama.
