The man who orchestrated Sony’s comeback is stepping down. Thankfully, the iconic technology brand still looks like a solid bet for investors.
Sony’s chief executive Kazuo Hirai will pass the baton to Kenichiro Yoshida, currently the chief financial officer, after a successful six-year stint in which he succeeded where a string of predecessors failed. Sony’s share price has more than tripled since he took over the firm in 2012 and is set to deliver the company’s best operating profit in its 71-year history.
