Agra: A shocking video of stray dogs moving around the general ward of the Agra women hospital was widely circulated in social media on Monday. In the video, the dogs are seen coming tantalizingly close to patients, increasing risks of infection and attacks.
āIt is scary to see the dogs coming close to you, especially at night. Infants and newborns are at greater risks,ā said a patient, who did not wish to be named.
āStray dogs increase chances of infection for patients already fighting diseases. The staff at the hospital seems to be least bothered by it,ā said an attendant, whose daughter has been recuperating at the general ward after giving birth to a baby on Friday.
Dr Asha Sharma, superintendent in-charge of the district women hospital, said hospital authorities were aware of strays entering the hospital premises. āThe facilityās boundary wall is under construction and dogs can easily enter the premises. Immediate steps are being taken to resolve the issue,ā she said.
