Publicist: Prince cremated, celebrated in private ceremony

He said emergency workers did not administer Narcan, a drug they carry to counteract overdoses.

Lars Larson, a 37-year-old Minneapolis man who had worked security for Prince and at Paisley Park events for about six years on and off, said he was at the same dance party.

Prince was last seen alive by an acquaintance who dropped him off at Paisley Park at 8 p.m. Wednesday, according to Carver County Sheriff Jim Olson.

The singer had been alone at the estate and staff members had been unable to reach him, the official added.

Prince is a very private person, and I don’t think that that would be unusual for him to be there by himself”, Olson said.

Emergency crews who answered the 911 call could not revive Prince, the sheriff said.

The celebrity news site TMZ has reported that Prince’s earlier hospitalization may have been triggered by an overdose of an opioid-based painkiller.

Authorities plan in the coming days to search Paisley Park – Prince’s sprawling headquarters that was home to a state-of-the-art studio and vaults of vast unreleased work – although the move was routine and there were no indications of foul play.

The symbol became integral to Prince’s brand, used in music videos, stage design, and on album covers – presaging the way David Bowie maintained a control on his image right until his death.

The intensely private musician, whose hits included “Purple Rain” and “When Doves Cry”, was found unresponsive in an elevator at his suburban Minneapolis home on Thursday.

Cindy Legg, a 41-year-old nurse, said: “Hopefully it was just God needed him in heaven”.

“He said he was good”, she said. She says she tried to copy what he did to stay fit.

An autopsy was completed Friday, but the medical examiner’s office said results wouldn’t be announced for days or weeks.

A Prince spokesperson previously said that he was treated for the flu in Moline and released later that day.

Prince’s body was released to his family Friday, Weaver said.

A promoter said Prince was scheduled to perform a set of shows earlier this week in St. Louis, but had to cancel because of health concerns.

“I am heartbroken beyond words”, Testolini said in a statement on Friday. Litman is executive producer for concerts at the theatre. Mary Kay Storhaug of Andover took the time to teach her four children about Prince’s legacy.

Prince had spoken about struggling with childhood epilepsy, and friends said he had hip trouble.

Bob Fuchs, manager of The Electric Fetus, a Minneapolis record store of which Prince was fond, said that customers were hoping to hear more music soon.

Dr. A. Quinn Strobl of the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office began the autopsy about 9 a.m. CDT.

The medical examiner’s report will include Prince’s medical history, his social history and that of his family.

“We made a request in 1986 because we had nothing in our collection to document Prince“.

Prince revealed in a 2009 interview with Tavis Smiley that he was “born epileptic” and had seizures when he was young.

The singer, 57, was found dead at his Paisley Park home estate, where his body was found in a lift.
