The switch is not surprising considering the lack of production the Pacers have gotten out of their frontcourt minus Paul George in the series so far.
Turner, 20, replaces power forward Lavoy Allen who has not been effective in the previous three games of the first-round playoff series.
Vogel says he’s making the change because Turner is producing and the Pacers have to “play the guys who are producing”. He played 24 minutes in Thursday’s Game 3 loss, but finished with only seven points and four assists while committing four fouls and four turnovers.
Turner averaged 11.5 points and 6.7 rebounds in 30 starts during the regular season. Ian Mahinmi is struggling with a back issue, so Turner should see a lot of minutes tonight and is worth deploying in most formats. It appears that veteran big man Jordan Hill will remain out of the rotation.
