Kendra Jordan, 20, said she often worked nights with one of the victims as a nursing assistant at a nursing home.
A call placed to Hamilton County Coroner Lakshmi Sammarco was not immediately returned.
“The Rhoden family would like to thank everyone for all the outpouring of prayers and support their family”, the statement reads. “But we pull together when tragedy happens, and we come out stronger”.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation stated some of the victims were killed while they were still sleeping in their beds.

Ohio’s attorney general released audio of two calls on Saturday.
“There’s blood all over the house”, the caller said. “My brother-in-law is in the bedroom and it looks like someone has beat the hell out of him”, she said. Pike County asked for the bureau’s help Friday morning.
“It’s all this stuff that’s on the news”.
“I just found my cousin with a gunshot wound”, he says.
The deceased are: Hannah Gilley, 20, Christopher, Rhoden Sr., 40, Christopher Rhoden Jr., 16, Clarence “Frankie” Rhoden, 20, Dana Rhoden, 37, Gary Rhoden, 38, Hanna Rhoden, 19, and Kenneth Rhoden, 44.
All Adams County Ohio Valley Schools were on precautionary lockdown until 11 a.m., meaning no one was allowed in or out, school officials said.
“We’ve never had a shooting with eight victims”, he said.
The first seven victims were located by Pike County deputies at 4077 Union Hill Road, 4199 Union Hill Road and 3122 Union Hill Road, all in Pike County.
A female caller reached dispatchers from a home on Union Hill Road where she discovered the scene.
Reader urged Pike County residents not to panic, but be alert and lock their doors.
Pike County Sheriff Charles S. Reader warned residents on Friday to be careful, noting that the shooter or shooters may be on the loose. It was revealed that the victims may have been killed in their sleep and there is a shooter at large.
They say investigators are still processing evidence from the four crimes scenes where the members of the Rhoden family were found in a rural Pike County.
“There may be one, there may be two, there may be three, we just don’t know”, Attorney General Mike DeWine added.
Police in Chillicothe made a traffic stop and questioned someone in relation to the shootings Friday afternoon, but authorities said no arrests were made.
Meanwhile, the body of suspect Wayne Anthony Hawes, 50, was recovered on Saturday by authorities in his home in Appling, northeastern Georgia, Columbia County Sheriff Captain Andy Shedd said.
