Logitech has launched the Rugged Combo 2 case and Crayon stylus for the iPad (2018). Both new iPad accessories are specifically targeted at students from K-12. While the Logitech Rugged Combo 2 will come at $99 (approximately Rs. 6,400), the Crayon will carry a price tag of $49 (roughly Rs. 3,100). Both will go on sale through schools and school districts in the US starting this summer. Price and availability details of the new Logitech accessories in India are yet to be revealed.
The Logitech Rugged Combo 2 is a case and keyboard combo that is touted to protect the iPad (2018) from bumps, scratches, and drops of up to four feet. There is an adjustable kickstand that offers four use modes, including Typing mode for taking notes, Viewing mode for watching videos and using apps, Notebook mode for writing with a stylus or Apple Pencil or reading e-books, and Travel mode to protect the iPad screen during transport. Also, there is a pencil holder that can hold the Logitech Crayon or Apple Pencil.
The detachable keyboard of the Rugged Combo 2 case, on the other hand, has been redesigned from the previous Logitech keyboard models with pry-resistant keys. There is also a secure-sealed design that makes the keyboard spill-resistant. Furthermore, the keyboard connects to the case via a proprietary connection and includes shortcut buttons for adjusting settings and using functions such as volume, brightness, media playback, print screen, Spotlight, Home, and Power.
Coming to the Logitech Crayon, this first third-party stylus for the iPad (2018) uses a technology identical to the Apple Pencil to deliver sub-pixel precision, low latency, and support for tilt. The Crayon connects to the new iPad without pairing and features a flat surface that prevents rolling and reduces the potential for accidental drops. It has a Lightning port for charging and rated to deliver eight-hour of battery life on a single charge. Moreover, the smart tip of the Crayon is pry-resistant and is only removable with a special tool, while the rubber cap is tethered. These inputs make the digital pencil highly suitable for students.
“We’ve brought years of design expertise into the classroom with Logitech Crayon and Rugged Combo 2, which take advantage of the new iPad’s capabilities. Together, these products give students more opportunities to be creative and all new ways to complete their school work, taking learning to new heights,” said Michele Hermann, Vice President of Mobility, Logitech, in a statement.
