The Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, along with other local leaders, will urge Congress Monday to find a clear path to citizenship for DACA recipients.
Congress and the White House this week are negotiating immigration reform, and the ultimate decisions will impact more than 800,000 DREAMers, including the 68,000 who live in the Houston area.
The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, which advocates for the Hispanic business community, has called a press conference at 2 p.m. at Houston City Hall.
Other local leaders – including Mayor Sylvester Turner – are scheduled be on hand to join the call for a permanent solution to protect DACA recipients, according to a news release from the Chamber. They’ll be pushing for action from all congressional leaders, especially Sen. John Cornyn and Sen. Ted Cruz, the two senators who represent Texas.
