A team source says the Hornetswho get dozens of calls like that every week from agents who believe they represent NBA-ready players – did indeed get the “Want Hassan?” call but passed.

Before the game, if someone would’ve said that Deng would be the leading scorer for each team and Miami would win by more than 20 points, there would be no way you’d believe them.

Kaminsky played 18 minutes and didn’t attempt a field goal.

Scouting report: The Heat scored a franchise playoff-record 123 points in Game 1 and racked up 27 assists and 56 points in the paint. However, against the Heat, that number dipped to 61 percent.

The Heat jumped on Charlotte early, blasting out to a 41-22 lead in the first quarter. Griffin delivered 19 points, 12 rebounds and six assists in 32 minutes after playing only five games down the stretch in the regular season. Charlotte simply was not able to recover from the hole they found themselves in after the first quarter.

“He was last on the team in plus-minus (minus-118) prior to the All-Star break, averaging 10.6 points and 4.7 rebounds on 43.1 percent shooting”. The Heat won the battle of the boards by out-rebounding the Hornets 42-28.

Making matters worse for the Hornets, their stretch 4 made little impact. The Miami Heat knew there could be no letdowns to start their National Basketball Association playoffs after suffering a horrific meltdown in the last game of the regular season. Charlotte was led with 24 points from Nicolas Batum and 19 points from Kemba Walker. “The Clippers coasted to a 115-95 victory in the series opener behind 28 points and 11 assists from Chris Paul and a solid defensive effort against the Trail Blazers” talented backcourt. Ball movement is key in establishing a rhythm and in helping build each other up.

The versatile French Guard/Forward, of Cameroonian stock, is a big part of the Hornets’ success this season and they’ll lean on him to keep propelling them towards success.

“The shots I took (Sunday) night are the shots I’ve been taking all year”, he said. “We made a lot of mistakes”, Walker told reporters. “There are more and more young kids coming and they have more talent, and I think it’s just the beginning”. The Heat lost their first game this season against the Cavs way back in October, but Miami excelled in two blowout victories against the top team in the East in their other meetings (although they both came in South Florida). Whiteside shot 9-of-11 from the field and blocked three shots.

Veterans Joe Johnson and Amar’e Stoudemire joined the double-digit scoring club for the Heat having 11 points each.

He was defended primarily by Charlotte forward Marvin Williams.

In fact, the Hornets have now their last 11 straight postseason games, dating back to 2002.

It’s rare to see a game, in what so many believed would be a close series, go completely one-sided from the get go.

Miami Heat forward Justise Winslow (L) talks to Heat guard Josh Richardson (R) during the second half in game one of the first round of the NBA Playoffs against the Charlotte Hornets at American Airlines Arena.

Offense wasn’t the problem in Game 1. A highly-anticipated return of LeBron could be in order, and if they survive that, a series with the victor of the death pit that is the Western Conference.

-Whiteside was a big problem down low for the Hornets.
