GOP congressman: Frontrunners Trump and Cruz proof system isn’t rigged

Ogden Driskill, a Republican state senator from Devils Tower, was chosen as the party’s only uncommitted delegate in the March 12 county conventions.

On paper, the convention’s task was to pick the two delegates awarded to Trump for his district victory, and one delegate for Rubio – who has suspended his campaign.

Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz on Tuesday accused Donald Trump of “whining” about the delegate process, in a feisty interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity in which the Texas senator insisted the only ones raising concerns about the rules are Trump backers. Trump now has 755 delegates of the 1,237 needed to capture the Republican nomination on the first ballot while Cruz has 545 and Ohio Gov. John Kasich has just 143.

Despite these projections, 42 percent of self-identifying GOP respondents said that Trump was the most electable candidate, while only 20 percent cited Kasich.

But Trump and Cruz have an incentive for avoiding having a parade of elected officials joining them on the campaign trail.

“I don’t want to waste millions of dollars going out to Wyoming many months before to wine and dine and to essentially pay off all these people because a lot of it’s a pay-off”, he said.

As far as a path to the nomination for them, local GOP leaders say that will be left up to the convention.

“Hillary Clinton promises that if she’s elected, she’s going to finish the task and bankrupt anyone associated with coal”, Cruz said.

Mr. Knotts, who has decades of political experience under his belt, described the approach as “spontaneous” and “haphazard” and said his impression is that the Cruz campaign is “more focused on the delegate fight”. Ed Buchanan, a former Wyoming House speaker, has served as chairman of the Cruz campaign. And if the Republican presidential race goes to a contested convention, a small group of New York Republicans may have an outsized role in helping sway the outcome.

New Mexico holds its presidential primary on the last possible date with four other states.

When Trump surrogate Clara Powers, speaking instead of Palin, started a poem: “Who do we want?” “I’m in this for the purposes of promoting myself and my ideas”, he said.

State party spokesman Tucker Keene announced Monday that consideration will be given for two additional weeks to applicants who missed the April 15 deadline to vie for a delegate seat at the GOP national convention this summer in Cleveland.

Regardless of what happens in New York’s primary Tuesday, their revolutions show no sign of diminishing.

Trump described families playing in Central Park, restaurants packed with patrons and workers, and a city of “honesty and straight talk”.

A Marist poll released Saturday gives Trump 54 percent of the vote in the ny contest, to 25 percent for Kasich and 16 percent for Cruz, while an Optimus poll released Friday puts Trump at 49 percent, to 23 percent for Kasich and 14 percent for Cruz.
