Even though HBO’s latest trailer for season 6 of Game of Thrones teased that the dead are coming, we still don’t know exactly whether or not Jon Snow is really dead. A lucky few recently got to attend the Los Angeles premiere of the first episode of season 6 at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. It is described as follows…

In a short teaser, Jon Snow’s body is seen as Liam Cunningham’s character Ser Davos seemingly protects him from members of the Night’s Watch – who are attempting to break in.

In the third and final clip, Cersei has just found out that her daughter Myrcella is dead, and Jamie has come to comfort her.

Obviously the pre-release marketing campaign (and the response driven by fans since the end of season 5) has been primarily (okay, exclusively) focused on the “death” of Jon Snow. And the new Game of Thrones trailer now has people worrying about the fate of a new essential character.

In addition, HBO is, for the first time, not making any episodes of the new season available in advance for critics. “We see somebody whose whole belief system is tumbling down”.

‘That’s what I do – I drink and I know things, ‘ he jests, walking away, goblet in hand. In the upcoming season of Game of Thrones, actresses Emilia Clarke, Lena Headey, and Carice Van Houten will return as Daenerys (Khaleesi), Cersei, and Melisandre, respectively.

As reported by Telegraph, after the premiere at LA, all the media delegates were given strict warning not to drop any spoilers or plot points, so everyone around the world is still under drapes.

We can expect the show to deliver more of the same intense struggle over the iron throne, yet, as Davos warns, “The real war is between the living and the dead”.
