Dolphins’ Running Back Mark Walton Facing DUI Charge

No police report or arrest affidavit was immediately available early Saturday afternoon.

There are additional charges against Walton pending, according to the Associated Press. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because that probe is ongoing.

“We are aware of the situation regarding Mark Walton and we have taken immediate action by suspending him from the team”, said Blake James, Miami’s athletic director, in a statement released by the school. NBC 6 in Miami reports police arrested Walton at southwest 30th court and 27th terrace near Coconut Grove.

Walton’s blood alcohol concentration was between 0.059 percent and 0.060 percent, police said. They might have to do so without a piece of their depth chart after running back Mark Walton was suspended. He owes $434 for that ticket, records showed. Instead, his future with the Hurricanes is now most uncertain – Miami booted a kicker from the team last month when he was cited for DUI.

During his freshman season with the Hurricanes, Mark Walton had a good showing, rushing for 450 yards and nine touchdowns and catching passes for 297 yards and another touchdown. Because of his versatility and ability to get tough yards, he was the presumed favorite to be the No. 1 ball carrier for the Canes in 2016 – emerging in a crowded backfield of 2015 leading rusher Joe Yearby and a healthy Gus Edwards.

His arrest comes a week after the Hurricanes played their annual spring game.

Walton is a former four-star recruit from Miami-Booker T. Washington High.
