Carver County Sheriff updates on cause of Prince’s death

Criminal investigators took over Prince’s home on Thursday to examine the death scene and Paisley Park’s maze of rooms and studios, but the sheriff insisted their involvement was routine, as Prince’s passing was an “unwitnessed death“.

Prince was unresponsive in an elevator when the musician was found by sheriff’s deputies who had been called to his suburban Minneapolis compound, a Minnesota sheriff says.

The Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office was handling the autopsy, but the agency doesn’t plan to release any preliminary information, agency spokeswoman Martha Weaver said Friday. But authorities have not released a cause of death and have said results could take days or weeks.

We still have no official report as to how, but on Friday Carver County Sheriff Jim Olson held a press conference to announce Prince’s autopsy has been completed. After his last performance on April 15, Prince flew back home to Minnesota, but his private plane had to make an emergency landing after he experienced a severe medical issue that required a hospital’s care.

“I am not able to confirm that at this time at all”, she said.

Sheriff Olson also gave a more detailed picture of Prince’s final hours of life and the reporting of his death.

“There was no obvious signs of trauma at all”, Olson said.

Nevertheless, the star hosted a party at Paisley Park last Saturday night at which one attendee said Prince played two tunes on a piano and then introduced fans to his doctor. An unresponsive male, identified as Prince, was discovered in an elevator. “I can tell you this: What I know is that he was perfectly healthy”, said Smith, who formed a band with Prince when they were kids. The local medical examiner’s office said in a tweet that an autopsy had been scheduled for Friday.

Sales of Prince’s music have soared since news broke of the performer’s death. “The whole point of the show on Saturday was to show he was doing all right”.

“As one of the most gifted and prolific musicians of our time, Prince did it all”.
