Arvind (who goes by his first name), while sweeping the district hospital floor on Thursday night found the room of the EMO empty. He then wore the EMO’s apron, placed a stethoscope around his neck, sat on the chair and got another employee to take a photograph. Arvind then shared it with his friends and colleagues, including other doctors of the hospital, on WhatsApp.
Chief medical superintendent (CMS) Dr KS Gupta said, “After I learnt about the matter on Friday morning, I have set up an internal inquiry into it to find out what the night team of our staff was doing when Arvind was getting his picture taken. We have no idea who took the photograph, or when, and what else the sweeper did in the room while wearing the EMO’s apron. He sent the photo to EMO Dr Harish Chandra on WhatsApp at 2:57am. When Chandra received the picture, he was attending to a patient in an emergency case at the pediatric department. Arvind has now been sacked from his job.”
District hospital staff supervisor Dinesh Patel on Friday morning filed an FIR against the sweeper. Geetesh Kapil, station officer, Kotwali police station said, “Arvind has been booked under sections 419 (cheating by personation) and 471 (using as genuine a forged document or electronic record) of the IPC. He has been arrested and sent to jail.”
