The bodies of the victims have been transferred to the Hamilton County Coroner’s Office.
The Pike County sheriff also briefly addressed reporters.
The autopsies are expected to continue throughout the weekend and will be performed by the same pathologist.
“We are very early into this investigation”, DeWine said.
The Bureau of Criminal Invesgiation sent 30 investigators to the scene.
Eight members of the same family were found murdered, execution-style, across four residences in a small rural community in southern OH on Friday morning, and authorities are still trying to figure out who is responsible for the mass shooting, according to CNN.
Sheriff Reader said if the shooter or shooters are at large, they should be considered armed and extremely unsafe.
Reader said on Friday night that authorities had met with more than 100 relatives and friends of the Rhoden family at a church.
Authorities say the victims are members of one family.
The relative on the phone says there’s at least two victims and that both of them don’t appear to be alive. Later in the day, officials were alerted to a fourth crime scene on Left Fork Road, where a 16-year-old boy was found dead.
“I think my brother-in-law is dead”, said a distraught caller speaking with a female 911 operator while gasping for breath. DeWine said the baby was asleep in bed with its mother when the mother was killed. One mother was shot next to her 4-day-old baby, who survived, as well as a 6-month-old and 3-year-old child. Their bodies were found Friday in four locations, all within miles of each other.
The four scenes spanned out across a 10-minute drive.
Robin Waddell, the owner of the Big Bear Lake Family Resort in Lucasville, Ohio, said Chris Rhoden Sr. and his son Clarence “Frankie” Rhoden, worked for him several years in a seasonal capacity building docks, repairing fences and performing other carpentry-related jobs.
He says they were previously part of his congregation, though not recently.
Investigators have yet to disclose a suspected motive in the massacre of the Rhoden family in Pike County, in the Appalachian region of south-central Ohio. It was revealed that the victims may have been killed in their sleep and there is a shooter at large. “This is a disgusting tragedy”.
9 p.m.: The Pike County’s Sheriff and the Ohio Attorney General hold another press conference.
Tierney had no information on whether a suspect was in custody.

Hilderbran said the mail carrier told her deputies had stopped her from delivering mail in the area they had blocked off.
“I just found (the victim) with a gunshot wound”, the caller said.
OH investigators worked through the night without making an arrest, officials said on Saturday.
“Reports we are receiving from Peebles are tragic beyond comprehension”, Kasich wrote on his Twitter account. They have all be offered protection.
The person added that the door was locked when they arrived.
